The Environment and Safety

Jcraft ribs are built with due attention to environmental considerations and ethically sourced materials.

Materials

Where possible our materials are sourced with regards to reducing and/or preventing adverse impacts on the environment. Our resins contain a lower styrene content than other brands and any wood products we use are sourced from companies who supply from sustainably managed forests.

Engines

We can package your boat with an engine of your choice but for our larger sized craft we recommend an Evinrude Etec. Being the first outboard engine ever designed with regard to the environment Evinrude are the current marine industry environmental leader for outboard engines and meet the stringent 2006 standards EPA , EU and 2008 California Air Resources board (CARB) three star ultra low emissions standards.

Labour

Currently there is a trend to import ready made GRP hulls from South Africa and eastern bloc countries. Because all our moulds are constructed entirely in-house using materials sourced from companies within the UK, we are confident that the workers involved in producing and supplying our raw materials are paid a fair wage and are employed under good conditions.

Safety - sea trials

Every Jcraft model is sea trialled before sale to ensure quality and compliance with standards set out in the Recreational craft directive (RCD) 2006 EC regulations.
